School Resource Officers
A School Resource Officer from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is assigned to each of the four high schools in the Sullivan County School System. SRO's are selected from POST-certified applicants from within our agency. They have many years of experience in varied aspects of law enforcement such as patrol, corrections, and investigations. SRO's work closely with the school administrators to ensure a safe learning environment. They respond as needed to the elementary and middle schools within each high school's district. The SRO's receive required annual training not only for law enforcement, but also for resource officers. They are members of the National Association of School Resource Officers and receive additional training through that organization.
Our SRO's have established a precedent of assisting the Sullivan County Schools to make each school safer. This has been accomplished through training and proactive assessments creating an atmosphere of security.
