Day Reporting

Sheriff Wayne Anderson initiated the Day Reporting Program for sentenced misdemeanant offenders on July 8, 2003. The program has had a total enrollment of 114 offenders during 2003, and 93 offenders have completed their sentences. The offenders in this program have sentences totaling 1,292 days. Since its inception date, this program has saved Sullivan County taxpayers $38,760 during 2003 (figuring $30 per person per day). This figure does not reflect the over-all savings to the county, which would ordinarily hire workers to perform the services provided by these offenders. The Day Reporting program should continue to grow and succeed as attorneys and the general public become more aware of the program.
